Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) is a manualized behavioral treatment for insomnia. Since it is purely behavioral, no medication is involved (although you may already be prescribed sleep meds by your physician). CBTi involves education about sleep as well as guidance for implementing sleep behavior changes that result in improved quality and sometimes duration of nocturnal sleep. Although CBTi is highly effective for chronic insomnia, it is not always an easy therapy.
